Privacy Policy for CardNest

Last updated: July 24, 2026

CardNest ("the app") is a personal card wallet: it lets you store loyalty, membership, gift, transit, and ID card details — plus reference-only debit/credit card information — by scanning or typing them in, for quick access on your phone.

What we collect

CardNest does not operate any servers and does not collect, view, or receive any of your data. Everything you enter or scan into the app is stored only:

  • Locally on your device, encrypted using your device's Keychain (iOS) or Keystore (Android), or
  • In your own cloud account — Apple iCloud or Google Drive's private app-data folder — if you choose to turn on encrypted cloud backup. That data is encrypted on your device before upload using a passphrase only you have; we never see it, and neither can Apple or Google inspect its contents.

This includes: card names, barcode/QR data, card photos you choose to add, and — for reference payment cards only — the network, last 4 digits, expiry, and cardholder name. CardNest never stores or transmits a full card number (PAN) or CVV, for any card.

Optional sign-in

If you enable cloud backup on Android, the app uses Google Sign-In to connect to your own Google Drive account, solely to store your encrypted backup file in your private app-data folder. We do not receive your Google account credentials, and we do not access any other data in your Google account.

Camera and photos

The app uses your device camera to scan barcodes/QR codes and to optionally photograph the front/back of a card. This processing happens entirely on-device (via on-device text and barcode recognition) — no image or scanned data is sent to us or to any third-party server for this purpose.

What we don't do

  • We don't run analytics or advertising SDKs.
  • We don't share, sell, or transmit your data to any third party.
  • We don't have user accounts, and we can't see your cards, backups, or any content you store in the app.

Your control over your data

Because your data lives only on your device and, optionally, in your own cloud storage, you're always in control:

  • Deleting a card in the app removes it from local storage (and your next backup, if enabled).
  • Uninstalling the app removes local data on that device.
  • Disabling cloud backup stops future uploads; you can delete the backup file directly from your iCloud/Google Drive account at any time.

Payments

The one-time "Lifetime Premium" purchase is processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Billing). We never see or store your payment details.
